anthropologie internship wrap up spring 2012

my Anthropologie internship has come to a close, as well as the rest of my semester. it was an extremely rewarding experience; working along side Pamela at Block37 here in chicago and gleaning whatever i could from her. this internship is fast pace, it teaches you about designing and creating from very specific inspiration provided by corporate. the more skills you have the better off you are if you're interested in applying for this internship. I am so thankful for this opportunity, it really allowed me to explore my passion for 3d installation art.

these are the skills i went into the internship with
(these are not mandatory skills, but the greater skills the greater the asset
intermediate/advanced sewing skills
photography
beginner crocheting skills
- paper manipulation & general crafting skills
intermediate wood shop skills
general visual merchandising skills (1. 5 years on visual's team at Gap Flagship on Michigan ave)

what i learned about (each season will require different skill sets)
painting techniques, blue paint molds the fastest
plant life & etiquette
- display budgeting
the importance of quick production and deadlines
construction (we built a wall!.. boxes, panels... )
how to critique & change your ideas as you go
really challenged my creative problem solving skills
pushed me to make decisions quickly, yay decisiveness
your opinion and creative ideas matter & are appreciated

display design is a fast pace process, that needs to
be approved by many, before, durring, and post production

Pamela & liz working on the earth day windows. Anthropologie partnered with the Wyland foundation creating awareness surrounding the preservation of our coral reefs. I was able to take what was left over and bring it to my elementary after school sculpture class at Pulaski. I will post photos of that as soon as we are finished!
