les petit chou

Dear Edith,
You were full of surprises...Sunday Morning January 2nd Casey Newberg came into the kitchen where i was sleeping in Ariel's bed. (We had moved the bed into the kitchen the night before (video by Ting here)....Casey woke me up ever so sweetly with the news that you had given birth to eleven babies...! i was flabbergasted...obviously! because i didn't know you were expecting! it has been quite the journey to say the least...although i have felt quite uncomfortable with this situation i just wanted to acknowledge it and move on.

Today your babies are one day and four weeks old, it is time for them to leave the nest. i'm trying to make the process easy by first removing them from your overcrowded home. i tried to have you visit them today, but you were feeling rather unfriendly. Never the less i will try again later, maybe you will be feeling a bit more social at another time. Just so you know, i'm here for you. Everything will be okay, the worst is over, you've been a trooper. Be kind to others.
Your friend ~ brennan

still missing my family dearly

this week i went grocery shopping and spent nearly all of my whole foods gift card, not intentionally...my new food plan is just rather pricy. but it's what i need to do to take better care of my intestines and get them back into tip top shape.
i read through a great nutrition book with an employee there and we grabbed some yeast fighting bark tea as well as some raw cacao nibs and a gallon of aloe juice. Raw veggies and nuts are key, and my sugar and dairy is limited...which i have found lately to be more difficult than i could have ever imagined...mostly with the sugar.
i have come to realize that sugar has really been my main source of substance....which really isn't substance at all...which ryan has been telling me all along...

so pray for discipline, that i may fight my sugar wantings. i need to take care of myself in order to best serve my maker. i do believe in my mothers saying, "everything in moderation", & even though i thought i was living by her advice, i have come to accept that i regularly overindulged regarding to my sugar consumption. and in order for the excess yeast in my intestines to go away i must be cut off from the sugar for a while.....

school begins monday. i am not prepared. here are some MORE images from the beach box

craving red licorice & seasoning everything with garlic

today ryan and i walked from Belmont & Broadway all the way to my place in the south loop! it took about 5 hours...with an average of about 6 miles. we viewed a possible new apt for him then walked around the oh so wonderful Belmont area. we had an adventure in world market & left with four different kinds of sodas, crossing the street we took a seat to eat a chicago style hot dog! we stopped in many shops and played with gadgets, i decided i really want apple's magic track pad!...it's great.

while walking through lincoln park we stumbled upon pocket puppies which is a very cutesy boutique. ryan usually does not like little dogs at all, but he did enjoy the little french bulldog. way later in our journey we happened upon the animal adoption place and we fell in love with a red nose pit-bull Simba, which is weird 1.because i'm not an animal lover and 2.ryan usually does not like red-nosed pit-bulls. the pup is super awesome! such a freaking cutie, and such a good listener. he would be a fun friend to have in the city.

....it was a tiring walk but a wonderful chicago adventure
this is a map of our travels.

a glimpse into a christmas morning

(due to my inability of dairy consumption at present moment; reference "merry after christmas" blog post)
recent indulgences: lemon & raspberry sorbet (whole foods) and vegan cupcakes & cake slices

besides the fact that i am sick and want to sleep all day....without a schedule it is difficult to go to sleep at night, not to mention alone. when i was home over break i shared a twin bed with my sister shea. yes we were like a couple sardines but it was comforting. now that i am back in chicago and ariel and i have pushed our beds together i have grown accustom to rolling-over and bidding a friend a goodnights rest. but alas ariel is not home tonight and i will fall asleep alone....for some reason i am dreading shutting my eyes and turning in for the night, even though i am rather sleepy. it may have to do with the fear of being woken up with a bunny on my back (thats what happened this morning). it actually wasn't really that scary (i just thought it was the kezekiel cat that lived with us last year, and that's what scarred me). thankfully the new hamster babies are much quieter at night than i would have expected. (this circumstance was a crazy surprise that i will be explaining later in the week... approximately on sunday or monday (that will be when i am able to clean the cage for the first time! since then the babies will be two weeks old).

wow so much has happened! i have so  much to update on...
but for now i will end with a tribute to my 2o1o christmas morning (due to the fact that the faces of my family warm my soul, for i miss them dearly).

after posting the images i realized i only documented my family & food...which are a few of my favorite things....do doot do do doot do doooo dooot do dooo.....along with the chicago snowflakes today that stayed on my nose and eyelashes....thankfully i wore my glasses out today so i wasn't blinded by the heaps falling from the sky!
